Sister Vacation!

NYC was so much fun! I already kind of miss it… or maybe I just miss not working? Either way, it was so fun to play in the city and hang out with the sisters.

Quick overview:

Thursday – Cat and I arrive in NYC and meet Lyndsey at the airport. We ate at Iguana (delish) and went to see Wicked! It was still good the 2nd time around. After the show, we met the Stage Manager and went for a little tour of the stage and he showed us the tricks they use for the show. Then we exited the stage door where the actors sign the autographs and the fans wait… much to the disappointment of the waiting fans.

Friday – Lyndsey slept while Catherine and I went and played in the city! We went to 59th Street area and walked… and walked… and walked. With all the walking we stopped at lots of places including Buttercup Bakery and cut through Central Park. We hit up 34th Street and Macy’s… bought some new Coach gear! Went to dinner at Social Irish Pub and then met Lyndsey for Mary Poppins. (Sing Song much?!) Seriously, for the Supercal number it was a complete reenactment of Sing Song. Scroll to the 4 minute mark on this YouTube video. It’s a clip from the London cast but you’ll get the idea. It was even crazier looking down at the dancers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An-0Lj0HiNQ

Saturday – Relaxing day. Lyndsey, Kathy (her roommate), Cat and I did some more shopping. Went to SoHo and Magnolia Bakery. Checked out the dino’s at the Natural History Museum and then Ruby Foo’s for dinner.

Sunday – Cat and I attempted to go to church but were very unsuccessful in locating the building… like I think we were on the wrong side of the park. (Trains should really give you a better warning for when they turn to express.) So C and I went back to 59th, shopped some more and ate lunch. MAVS game vs New Jersey. L rented her first ZipCar and we did the not-very-far trek to New Jersey to watch the Mavs play an awful game against the Nets. I still love the Mavs!

Monday – History day! Sunday night the temperature started to drop and Monday was FREEZING. The three of us bundled up and headed to the ferry that goes to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We went to the top of the ferry where one of the funniest things in the world happened involving my frozen face/hands and to get some pics. Then headed below since it was so cold. No joke, with the wind chill it was in the negatives. YIKES! We got to the Statch went through the museum and headed up 189 steps to the top. It was even colder up top! Then back to the ferry for the Ellis Island Museum. Pretty cool. Back on the ferry to Battery Park. Walked to the World Trade Center which I didn’t even realize what it was because of the construction they’re doing on it now. Went to Max Brenner’s (chocolate place) and had some delicious treats! Then back to the house to pack to fly out on Tuesday.

Thank you to Lynds for her hospitality!
