it's cold and there's a mouse

I keep reading on DallasNews.com how it's been cold and rainy - in Dallas. I thought that was pretty interesting because for the most part, it hasn't been too bad here. Scratch that. A couple of nights ago, the temperature dropped. Like seriously dropped. Yesterday morning I left my house in the morning (9am no less - I'm normally not out of bed by then!) and proceeded to get slapped in the face with cold rain and nearly blown over by the wind. That rain ended. The wind and cold did not.

Today I braved the cold (it was pretty), walked to the mineral water and after about seven minutes I had to give myself a pep talk to not turn around and return to my warm house. I continued. I made it there, filled my bottles, was stopped by a man who gave me some walnuts. Then I told him I had to leave because I was cold. (Sisters, do yall recall an incident during the NYC vacay that involved my nose and me being cold?! Something along those lines might've happened again.) Then he told me to get a hat. Words to the wise. Tonight when I went to go buy my Coca Cola Light, I rocked the winter hat.

Point is, the cold has begun and I've got a feeling I'll continue to complain. But I want to be here so I'll take it. But it is only October... and I assume that the "best" is yet to come.

iGoogle is telling me it's 17F outside.
AccuWeather is telling me it's 30F outside.
Pretty big difference but still cold.

P.S. There is currently a mouse trap set up in my room circa 1972. Hope it still works because I'd really rather not wake up to something small and gray running across my floor. AGAIN.
