Did that really just happen?

Seriously... it was so strange.

I went to the mineral water place that's a 20 minute walk from my house. There was a woman I walked with there. (Which also made the walk much longer than 20 minutes.)

Instead of just filling up her bottles with water, she bathed. Like brought shampoo and a change of clothes. Use your imagination from there. You can also imagine that this made things a little uncomfortable for me while I waited to fill up my own bottles.

The kicker is that where we live there is running water and I'd venture to say everyone has their own showers. The woman just said that the mineral water was better water. Keep in mind the mineral water spout is on one of the main roads that goes through the Rila Mountain.

(During this whole bath experience she kept pouring water on my right leg where I have some bug bites. Slightly annoying since the water kept rolling up my leg and on to my shorts. I'd put medicine on them before I left which in turn just made my leg slimy. Apparently cold water is the new remedy for bug bites?)

After she was satisfactorily dry, we walked back down into the village and I returned home (not bathed) and with my 2 liter bottles filled with fresh water.

Oh, Veevsie, Veevsie...wonder what other unknowns await you about the Bulgarian culture?
Hope the cold water/slimy leg treatment does the trick with the bug bites. Do they sell industrial strength Off at the local Walgreen's?
And how is it that water ran up your leg? Did it also get on your shoe, or were you barefoot since it was the bath and all? And are you saying that the lady was in full view of the passers by, not even inside 4 walls?
So many questions come to mind...I may be thinking about this for days...

Well, mom, to clarify... she was in full view of the passers by. It's not an enclosed mineral water bath house... it's a spout that comes out of the ground on the side of the road. And don't worry, I've got bug spray. The water ran up and down my leg. Up because of the way I was sitting and also all into my sandal. But I've got the quick dry shorts so all was okay.

Val! Love the story! Does it remind you of the Gardner days of a public shower? Ha! Hope you are doing well!
