Craft Project Help

This is actually a project that won't be happening until after I return to the States BUT I want some help on ideas.

I always buy an embroidered patch of the countries I visit. The problem is, I have NO idea what to do with them. There's the standard idea of sewing them onto a messenger bag or backpack but I don't really want to do that. I've tried to google some ideas but nothing is really coming up. I'd also like it to be something that I can continually add to as I hope to travel more and more! All I have is a Ziploc bag full of patches that I've been collecting since 2005.

Ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions?! I'd love any comments I can get! There's gotta be some creative people out there...

How about an afghan border, sort of on the Tshirt blanket theme? Maybe a blanket with the global map on it and you sew the patches in or near their geographic locale. And by "you," I mean the seasoned pro who will know how to do it right

Your mom has a good suggestion, but since I am a quilter, I would suggest making a quilt out of them. I don't know what they look like or the size, but you can use just about anything to make a quilt. It would be very personal and memorable and you can do whatever size you want according to the number you collect.

I say you make a Girl Scout vest out of them...

ha! jk

Really, though, I think you should sew them to make a throw pillow for a couch. Maybe have the material be a neutral, but really sturdy something or other, so the patches really pop.

That way, people will see it and ask about it (conversation starter), but they won't really use it to sleep on.

(pick me! pick me!) :)

Valerie, just noticed (and read) Karolinka's blog...so glad you linked to it. She really did have a no good really bad day, and I loved her literary references! I was tempted to post but held back lest I become famous in Bulgaria as an online stalker! But it was the earlier post that I then noticed about having met the PCers on a Friday night in Sofia that made me appreciate her even more...so cool that she linked to all of yall!
